A still of an epic christmas tree burning that we did on the lake. We took one ten foot tall christmas tree, doused it in gasoline, then lit it on fire via roman candle. (Fireworks added for effect.) Expect the video on Monday morning.

I shot some candids at my friend’s wedding recently and found some extremely strange white balance / color problems. I showed my photography friends that were at the wedding and everyone was pretty stumped. I had all my settings dialed in manually; everything looked fine to us. I thought I had the problem solved. Then I went to a car show yesterday and the problem came back.
I will spare you the details. Basically, my shutter speed was too fast and I was catching the fluorescent lights flicker due to their frequency. I found a decent post regarding this problem which you can read here at stackexchange.
I’m happy that I figured it out, but also a bit upset that I didn’t think of this immediately when it happened. Oh well. Live an learn.
